"Mama?"

"Yes, Ophelia?"

"Do you think there is something wrong with me?"

"No darling, you're perfect."

Mark Ryden ~
Ear

She didn't like when they whispered, the voices so low it had become a consistent vibration that ran through her veins.

Mama was becoming distant and Papa didn't even look her in the eye anymore. Ever since she went to that woman's office and played a few games with her, nobody wanted anything to do with Ophelia.

There was something wrong with her, she knew that was for sure. No matter how hard her mama tried, Ophelia could tell whenever she was lying.

"So what did you learn today Ophelia?"

"I made a friend today Papa, his name is George."

"That was not what I asked you, Ophelia. Please answer the question."

"Why can't I go to a normal school? Like the rest of the other kids?"

"OPHELIA! ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTION!"

"When pigs fly."

"Do you think I'm pretty George?"

"Yes. But why do you ask?"

"Maybe when I grow up, I will become really pretty and make my parents proud for being such a beautiful girl."

"It doesn't work that way O, beauty can't cover up the fact that you are not normal."

"What is so great about being normal?"

Enoki II

She could hear the crunch beneath her feet, the low and hoarse voice of George, her new found friend, talking softly in her ear. Encouraging her to keep walking towards the cave.

"Are you sure it's safe to go in there?"

"Positive"

George pushed her forward and cracked a joke about how ridiculous it was that Ophelia's father doesn't believe that pigs can fly. Ophelia laughed and shook her head, slightly embarrassed of her father.

"I think he hates me, just a little."

"That's where you're wrong Ophelia because I know for a fact that he hates you, much more than you think."
